Will you send an instructor to our home? Our instructors do not go to students’ homes. We prefer to have all of our sessions in the center not only because in person sessions are optimal for instruction, but also because of the many benefits of being in the center itself. If occasionally a session needs to be online or if getting to the center is simply not ever possible, we will conduct sessions via Zoom.

What if my child doesn’t click with the instructor you have selected?Success with one-on-one instruction depends as much on the student and the instructor “clicking” as it does on the instructor’s expertise. We have many experienced instructors at F&B - if there is no “click” with one, we will make a switch.
-
What are your hours?Instructors are available Sundays 11:00 am - 7:30 pm and Mondays through Thursdays 3:00 - 9:00. Our administrative hours are Mondays through Fridays 10 am - 6pm

-
How can I access my student’s schedule? We can provide you with a link to set up a user id and password for Tutor Trove, F&B’s scheduling software. Once you are in, you can see your family’s F&B schedule and notes instructors have written about their sessions with your children.
-
Do you offer group classes? All test prep at F&B is done one-on-one. We use a unique approach to test prep that focuses on critical thinking, applied reasoning, and problem solving strategies. We do not teach to the test -- we teach through the test to help students develop an awareness of their own strengths and weaknesses and build skills that will serve them not just for the standardized tests, but throughout their academic careers and beyond.
-
Can my child take a free diagnostic ACT and/or SAT?Yes! We hold baseline testing every weekend. For standard time test takers, we offer the tests on Saturday at 8:30 am and 1 pm. For those with accommodations, we offer the tests on Saturdays at 9 am. Sign up here.
-
My child has accommodations in school. Will he/she automatically get accommodations for the ACT/SAT?Getting accommodations with the CollegeBoard (SAT) and the ACT are not automatic, but we can help with the application process.
-
What ever happened to SAT II Subject Tests? In the 2020-21 academic year, the CollegeBoard eliminated subject tests.
-
Do you guarantee scores? No - we can’t take the test for the students ourselves! Teenagers are fickle creatures and can have bad days. However, if progress expectations aren’t met, we adjust the test prep plan which could mean finding a better fit for tutor, changing the test, or a deep dive into understanding why a student’s performance may not be as expected.
-
How many sessions are needed?Every student has different goals and responds differently to test prep, so it is impossible to say a number! What you can expect is discussed when setting up the test prep plan.
