What we do
Together with Kim Freudigman and Trey Billings, our team provides educational solutions for adolescents and children through individual assessment, personally tailored learning programs, and one-on-one coaching. We provide more than just study strategies and expertise in the subject matter. Each child is paired with a tutor based on his or her learning style, personality, and educational needs. Students typically work weekly with their tutors to allow for continuity and to build the relationships that are key for our tutoring services. This approach engages students, fosters self-confidence and advocacy, and promotes skills that result in academic and personal success.
Philosophy
Our fundamental belief at Freudigman & Billings is that children learn best in the context of supportive relationships. We are committed to helping students better understand how they learn, and how they can take ownership of that learning.
At any point, a student may be engaged simultaneously with multiple services, and what we do together changes over time based on individual needs and where each student is on his or her academic trajectory. We frequently review progress and adjust our methods as needed based on the individual.
Our Story
Freudigman & Billings, LLC was founded in 2004 by Dr. Kimberly Freudigman and Trey Billings. Kim received her Ph.D. in psychology. Trey is a graduate of Cornell University and former manager of the Cognition and Development Lab at Yale University. After meeting at Yale and following several years of successful private tutoring, Kim and Trey formalized their student-centered process and collaborated to create Freudigman & Billings.
Over the last decade, Freudigman & Billings has attracted the kinds of tutors who are committed to building a community. Outside the office, we have full-staff camp retreats, we go on group outings to movies, and we take Halloween very seriously. Inside the office, we have grown to include a staff of over 20 tutors with bright minds who are invested in our students. Our growing numbers mean increased staff development centered on building expertise and cultivating the skill sets necessary to be not only effective teachers, but outstanding ones.
We are proud to say we know how to tutor tutors, too! Our former tutors have gone off to other ventures based on their experiences at F&B, including Causeway Collaborative, 36 Education, Tutor Trove, and Desmos.
Who we serve
Our students attend a number of public schools throughout Connecticut and New York, local private day schools, parochial schools, and a select number of private day and boarding schools outside of Connecticut. We work with students spanning from middle school all the way up through college. We are also glad to donate our time and support to the scholars of A Better Chance of Westport since 2007.
We help all types of learners, including children with learning differences, attention deficit disorder, and developmental challenges, as well as gifted students aiming for top colleges. The connections we have within the community also allow us to refer out for other services when students and parents come to us to figure out in what direction they need to go next.
Our center
The importance of space
Our center is more “campus” than “office.” Students are encouraged to come when they like, hang out with friends, play board games, do homework, have a snack, get some advice, or even catch a quick nap during finals time. Our students have access to our very talented staff on a daily basis, and our staff often collaborates to assist individual students. We are proud of the collegiality that our building and our philosophy inspires, as well as the team of educators we have attracted as a result.

Ultimately, our students find successful ways to think about themselves, the world they live in, and the people with whom they share that world.
Meet The Team.
Our staff is composed of educators from competitive programs whose experiences strengthen us as individuals and as an organization. We work closely together to create and execute individualized learning plans, meaning that our work is far more comprehensive and impactful than a transactional hour of “tutoring.”
